The Deep Scan feature scans through 2 layers of drywall up to 1.5 in. (38 mm) deep. This higher sensitivity scanning mode should be used when there are extra layers of wallboard or paneling to minimize false positives and/or finding other objects further behind the wall that may not be a stud. Always start your scan in Stud Scan first.

The magnetic and non-magnetic metal scan functionality indicates the presence of metal. When the LCD screen displays an "X", it means a non-magnetic metal is detected, up to 60mm deep. When the LCD screen displays no "X", it means a magnetic metal is detected, up to 80mm deep.

The Wire Warning detection indicates the presence of live, unshielded electrical wiring up to 2 inches (51 mm) deep. In all modes, this wall scanner always detects and indicates the presence of live AC wires for safety.

The 6-in-1 scanning modes of our magnetic stud finder have a high level of sensitivity to penetrate deep into the wall and detect different materials. The stud 1/2, 1, and 1 1/2 Scan Modes can locate the center of wood and metal studs up to 13 mm, 25mm, and 38mm deep in drywall, respectively. The AC Scan Mode can detect unshielded live AC wires up to 2 in. (51mm) deep, making it a great partner for daily work or home renovation.

The large LCD screen and audio alarm provide clear direction and accurate location of targets. The signal bar on the LCD display alerts you to the distance and direction of the approaching object, and a beep sounds to determine the location. When the wall stud finder detects the center and edges of wood and metal studs, it quickly reacts with a loud warning sound.
