JAXWQ's stud finder uses UPGRADED SMART SENSORS that can detect changes in density behind the wall and locate the center of the stud with great accuracy. This helps users avoid drilling numerous erroneous holes when installing TV brackets, shelves, or even coat hooks on drywall.

To use the AC scan mode: 1. Place the tool in the air and press the ON/OFF button to turn it on, then select the AC mode or Metal mode. 2. Press the Calibrate Button to start the calibration process. The decreasing bars will disappear, and a beep will confirm the calibration is complete. Release the scan button. 3. Place the entire device against the wall and slowly slide it across the surface. Mark the location where you get the highest AC indication (the most middle bars on the screen). If it is a strong target, the top indicated arrow will show, and a steady beep will sound. Continue in the same direction until the display bars reduce. Reverse the direction and mark the spot where the display bars peak. The midpoint of the two marks is the location of the center of the live AC wiring. 4. To further pinpoint the location of the live AC wiring, scan the area again, starting on the wall over one of the previous marks. This will reset the tool to lower sensitivity and narrow the scan area. 5. Scan in both directions as in Step 3. The area indicated should become smaller, allowing you to more precisely identify the location of live AC wires.

This stud locator has three stud scan modes. The Deep Scan Mode scans through two layers of drywall up to 1.5 inches (38 mm) deep. The DeepScan Mode is a higher sensitivity scanning mode that should be used when there are extra layers of wallboard or paneling. To minimize false positives, always start your scan in the 0.5-inch or 1-inch StudScan Mode first.

After detecting the center of an object, use the Metal Scan mode to determine if the reading in Stud scan mode was a wood stud, metal stud, or pipe.

The JAXWQ wall detector can locate metal studs in StudScan mode, DeepScan mode, and Metal Scan modes. Since the stud finders are looking for a change in density behind drywall, not a particular material, they will react to metal studs the same as they would for wooden studs.

The Wire Warning detection feature indicates the presence of live, unshielded electrical wiring up to 2 inches (51 mm) deep. For safety, this wall scanner always detects and indicates the presence of live AC wires in all modes.
